Something a little lighter

Here's a layout I did a few days ago.

Good morning

This morning on ksl.com (Utah TV station website) there was an article about a Dan Jones (big pollster in Utah) poll that says something like 54% of Utahn approve of Obama. 254 people in 4 counties were polled (we have 29 counties and over 1 million registered voters) . .Obama won 3 of the 4 counties. There were over 300 posts in the comment section. Took a while to scan through them, but I found the following comment and loved it, so I thought I'd pass it along to you.

"I hate to admit it. My Democrat liberal friends were right. They told me if I voted for McCain, all sorts of bad things would happen. Well, I voted for McCain anyway . . . and they were right.

They told me if I voted for McCain, the nation's hope would deteriorate, and sure enough there has been a 20 point drop in the Consumer Confidence Index since the election, reaching a lower point than any time during the Bush administration.

They told me if I voted for McCain, the US would become more deeply embroiled in the Middle East, and sure enough tens of thousands of additional troops are scheduled to be deployed into Afghanistan.

They told me if I voted for McCain, we would see more "crooks" in high ranking positions in Federal government and sure enough, several recent cabinet nominees revealed resumes of bribery, immigration violations and tax fraud or tax evasion.

They told me if I voted for McCain, our relations with foreign countries would be worse, and sure enough China has questioned investing in more US treasuries, France and Germany have rejected our President's suggestions that they spend more money to save the world economy, Russia has apparently forced us to abandon our defense missile programs in Poland and Czech Republic, we snubbed Great Britain's Prime Minister Gordon Brown when he visited Washington (and sent him packing with a bust of Winston Churchill that had graced the Oval Office), the State Department shuffled the visit of the president,of Brazil to avoid a conflict with St. Patrick's Day (and spelled his name wrong in the official announcement), the President scuttled the pending free trade agreement with Colombia (an important ally next to Chavez's Venezuela), Mexico imposed tariffs on $2.4 billion of American products in retaliation for our breach of the North America Free Trade Agreement, and Iran is getting ever close to making a nuclear bomb. It's a good thing we're chumming up to Syria.

They told me if I voted for McCain, that the moguls of industry would increase their salaries and bonuses at the expense of the little people. And sure enough, companies like Merrill Lynch and AIG and Fannie Mae have used the bailout money to pay record bonuses to the very executives who drove those companies into the ground.

They told me if I voted for McCain that innocent children would die, and sure enough, the President has lifted the ban on federal funding of abortion and the ban on using federal funds for research on embryonic stem cells, so many more innocent children will die.

They told me if I voted for McCain, the civil rights of Americans would be put in jeopardy. And sure enough, the Congress is about to pass the misnamed "Employee Free Choice Act" which will deprive workers of the secret ballot in union elections and the President wants to institute a civilian national security force to spy on Americans.

Well, I ignored my Democrat friends in November and voted for McCain. And they were right . . . all of their predictions have come true. "

Airforce One Fly Over

So, the government spent a bunch of money to fly Airforce One over the Statue of Liberty. In the process they didn't bother to inform the thousands of citizens living/working in the area. So, there is mass confusion and fear as people race from their office buildings fearing for their lives.

Couldn't they have just photoshoped the picture? I did.

In my second picture I have created a symbolic picture of how I feel our current President is destroying our liberties. The plane of course represents President Obama, the Statue of Liberty represents my freedoms and liberty.

This weekend was the Natural Resource Festival in Richfield. The last few years we've had a booth in it to teach people (mostly children) about vermicomposting (composting with worms). It's always been a great hit with the kids . . .mostly the high schoolers. I've posted pictures on our Worms, Worms, Worms blog. Click here to check it out.

Stand up and be counted!

Miss California didn't bow to political correctness during last night's Miss USA Pagent and I personally applaud her! Read more here. Her comment might have cost her the crown, but she should be proud of herself for not lowering her moral and her personal beliefs. She'll be happier in the long run for standing up for her beliefs.

Are you attending?

Oh yes, I found one close to home. What am I talking about you ask? A tea party! It's at the same time as Joshua's swimming lesson, but that is over by 6:00 and right by where the party is, so we'll be heading over as soon as the lesson is over.

Are you going to a tea party too?

Easter Pictures

Here are our Easter Pictures. Everyone had new clothes for church today. My mom says Easter is a good excuse for a new dress, so she bought the dresses and a new shirt for Chuck. I had already gotten Joshua's clothes a few weeks ago. Thanks Mom!!

Here's Shayla.

Hair Cuts

I took the girls this morning to the college and had their hair cut at the cosmotology school students. Their cuts turned out great. I got mine done too, and I'm not real happy with it, but I'll make it work. I will post my pictures another time after I've colored it and styled it. Here are the before and after pictures.

Thanks Sweetheart!

Chuck has worked so hard this past week to get our piano finished. He replaced key tops, had to put some new string in it, fix the action, tune it and do a cover-lay. This first picture is a before picture and the next two are the finished product. The cover-lay he did put a bit of a red tint on the piano which is great because my living room tables are red mahagony, so it really looks good in my living room now.

April Fool's Day at our House

Makiya and Shayla tried to pull a fast one on Chuck and me this afternoon. They claimed they were going outside to check for eggs. A few minutes later I hear Makiya screaming for help out in the backyard. I looked out the window and saw her limping towards the house, her pant leg pulled up with red stuff on it, I realized it was ketchup when I saw Shayla holding the bottle. We tried to get Midnight to pose like she was trying to attack her, but Midnight just kept walking over her rofl.

The only joke that worked today was the girls making the phone ring and handing it to Chuck telling him he was wanted on the phone but nobody was there.

I finally got some cooperation from family members on Sunday morning. I was able to take a few pictures with the new camera. This first one is Shayla, Joshua and me.

Here is Chuck, Shayla and Makiya.

Chuck and Shayla.

Here's my baby, Joshua. Doesn't he look handsome in his new Sunday clothes! He was so excited to wear them to church.

Stacia did NOT, I repeat did NOT want to participate. I think she was bribed by her dad for this picture, which ended up blurry cause I was hurrying so fast to take it. I think she wasn't feeling to good, because 20 minutes later after we'd gone to church she started feeling sick to her stomach and Chuck had to bring her home from church. She ended up throwing up all day and missing school on Monday. So, I'll excuse the bad mood this time.
